Year Team

The Year Team is an intense one year dedicated to service and discovery.

You will be involved in ministry with us to inner-city young people and to the homeless, through the Light House. Contact the Office.

Requirements

  • Must be single, between 18-35 years of age
  • Servant heart (or willingness to learn to have one)
  • Agreement to work within our Basis of Faith and Non-denominational Stance
  • Police (Garda) Clearance
  • A positive reference from a Pastor or Elder
  • Completed application form
  • Agree to comply with our policies for year team participants

The DCM Year
Year Team runs from Aug- July the following year.

Youth Work
Camp season runs from June – August.
Club season runs from October – May.
The times in between are used as preparation times for the season to come.

Homeless Ministry
The homeless ministry runs the same schedule throughout the year.

What to expect…

  • 40 hour/week, mostly participating in afternoon and evening programmes. (some Saturdays as well)
  • Testing your comfort zone!
  • Learning experiences that will change the way you view life and do ministry.
  • Work alongside our Youth & Community Workers in a designated area.
  • Participation in youth clubs, after school programmes and serving the homeless
  • Relationship building with young people and families in the community

Mentorship
During this time we will provide you with a spiritual mentor, who will walk alongside you in your journey of faith and a practical mentor, who will walk alongside you in your service roles.

Cost
€1300 for the year. This covers: accommodation, utility bills and external training course fees. You will also need to have approximately €100 for each week you are here to cover general living expenses such as food, travel, personal expenses, etc.

Learning Experiences
It is our goal to prepare and train you for the following:

  • Understanding full-time Christian service
  • External practical training (i.e. Youthworks course)
  • Effectively presenting Jesus to people
  • Club organization and practice (Youth Programme)
  • Care for the homeless
  • Intercultural awareness
  • Personal spiritual health
  • Why do youth work
  • Child protection

Extras (based on volunteer training days)

  • Working with at-risk kids
  • Leading club activities
  • Doing homework with kids who have learning disabilities
  • Teaching a Bible lesson to children
  • First Aid
Through all this we hope to help you to gain a better understanding of who you are, your strengths and giftings.
